Ahmad Dahlan University's missions are:

1. Running the quality academic programs relevant to the sustainable development in campus with the Islamic atmosphere.
2. Conducting research focusing on the integration of the comprehensive fields of sciences to achieve the Islamic community.
3. Providing expertise service directing to empowerment and potential collaborations with government, industry, and both local and global communities.

Goals:
Ahmad Dahlan University (Universitas Ahmad Dahlan UAD) is a University of which the goal of the education is the elaboration of the goals of National Education and the goals of Higher Education based on Al-Qur'an and As-Sunnah.

a. Goals of National Education

The goals of National Education are developing the intelectual life of the nation and Indonesian people comprehensively, the people who believe in God, posses noble characters, have the knowledge and skills, are physically and spiritually healthy, have outstanding personalities, independence and sense of responsibility towards the community and nation.

b. Goals of Higher Education

• Preparing learning participants to be the members of the community who have the akademic/ or professional abilities who are capable of implementing and / or creating  knowledge, technologies and / or arts.
• Developing and sharing science and technology and / or arts to improve people's lives and enrich the national cultures.

c. Goals of UAD’s Education
Educating students to be Muslim scholars who believe in God, have noble characters, academic, professional abilities and work to form Muslim community.

• Training students to be potential leaders who have Muhammadiyah characters.
• Developing and sharing science, technology and art in order to promote Islam and improve the welfare of mankind.

The goals of UAD are specifically defined with the development of similar groups of sciences in which the development is based on Islamic Aqidah and Pancasila.

The Main scientific paterns of UAD include the integration of science-technology-arts, anticipation of academic services, Islamic leadership and the development and knowledge to be (Integrity of Science-Arts-Tehnology, anticipation dynamic service, leadership, and scientific development based on Islam).
